It has been a while

September 27th, 2006

I have been really busy lately and have just now gotten the chance to sit down and relax. I recently took a test in my history class and feel as though I did quite poorly on it. I am awaiting my results to determine weather or not I should drop the class.

In other news, I have been purchasing home furnishings to go into a apartment I will be moving into. It is a 2 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment for $400/month…which is insanely cheap for the area that it is in. There is some work to be done on it (due to the crackhead that lived in it previously). My hope is that we can move in through mid December.

Upon relocating, I will also need to find a new job and a new school, so I think I have my work cut out for me for a while now. I will keep you posted on this, as well as any other situation that happens between now and then.

Oh boy…

September 8th, 2006

Maintaining the college life, a full time job and actual “fun” activities is a very hard thing to do. You are required to devote X amount of time to each and it is difficult to adjust to this when you are only used to working. In order to get the enjoyment of things that I was once able to do, I am required to stay awake late in the night, which in turn, makes me really tired throughout the day.

I recently took a math test and I am certain that I passed with an A. I foresee this class becoming slightly more difficult in the future, but feel as though I shouldn’t worry too much until the next math class comes around.

I am being hassled at work day in and day out. The higher ups at my company aren’t exactly the aviators of communication. They tend to ask for something that is entirely impossible to finish in the length of time given and then they forget what they commanded the very next day. Everyone seems ill at everything and the work environment sucks. Hopefully I will transition into a new job, where my work is appreciated and most of the people aren’t assholes.

House relocation is also something on my mind. I cannot stand where I live at the moment. I’m currently renting from a landlord that doesn’t want to take care of anything. The landlord (or I should say landlords as there is a wife also controlling this operation) also wants to govern who can or cannot live in the house that we pay rent for. The bathroom floor was falling in, but FINALLY got repaired after we threatened to move. Afterwards, the landlord said that if there were anymore problems with that bathroom after this, that we would have to move. Now the shower is leaking into my closet, but do you think I am going to tell his sorry ass? Hell no. I hope the whole closet falls through and the wise ass learns to stop advising his tenants to NOT report potential problems with his home in the future. I have hopes of landing a good job and moving out of this shit hole. The only reason I stay is because the rent is cheap.

Car Tires

August 24th, 2006

I would just like to explain what happened to me over the last few days…

When I purchased my car about a year ago, I knew it needed tires at the time. Being the cheap person that I am, I decided to wait 1 year before buying them. It turns out that I have some special tire size that has to be ordered strait from the tire manufacturer and I had to wait 1 week for them to arrive (no biggy).

After getting notified that the tires were available for installation, I paid the store a visit. The tires took 2 hours to put on and the overall cost was around $600 (about $120/each before tax). All was just dandy and I was enjoying my new tires until…

4 days later, I decided to take a trip to the video store to see if they happened to order the movie I wanted to see (Fargo - incase you are interested). Upon driving through the parking lot I noticed a little boy’s shoe just laying there and thought to myself “hmm…they have a very messy parking lot”…heh, this is kind of ironic once you read the rest of the story. I originally parked in the center of the lot, but after noticing that there were hardly any cars in the closer positions, I decided to park right at the entrance (big mistake). The video store didn’t have my movie in and there wasn’t really anything worth renting at the time, so I left. This is where the situation turns ugly…

I get in my car, crank it up and drive away. I hear an odd noise coming from my wheel and think “bleh, those damned idiots didn’t put the valve stem in right and the tire is halfway deflated”. I knew that the tire wasn’t fully deflated because I was still able to turn easily and it wasn’t making that distinct “hey, I am flat” kind of sound/motion. I got home and sashayed over to my wheel, expecting to see a half deflated tire, but what I observed filled me with pure rage…

The tire had an 8″ bolt stick through the top of it…not a screw, a BOLT. This blunt metal bolt somehow pierced its way through the top of my brand new tire, hit the steel belts and then bent over sideways. I could not stop cursing, as well as having random thoughts of homicidal acts that could be committed upon the video store for allowing such things to be left in their parking lot. Eventually I just had to walk away and regain my sanity. After I return, I decided to start working at it, but the thing wouldn’t budge. I had no hope for my new tire and just knew that once the bolt was removed, my tire would deflate. I had to take the entire wheel off just to get tools around the bolt in order to remove it. I literally had to unscrew this object from my tire…it was not a happy process. Finally, after all of that mental anguish and physical exertion the bolt came out…hurray…
Surprisingly enough, the tire doesn’t leak any air after all of this. I have driven on it about 100 miles since then and have witnessed no negative effects from this ordeal (besides mental). I am not exactly sure if I should count myself as being the luckiest person in the world (because it DIDN’T puncture all the way through the tire) or the unluckiest (because it all happened in the first place).

I will let you make that call.

First Entry…

August 21st, 2006

As I sat here, contemplating my next move, I suddenly had the urge to create a blog (or web-log if you will) for my site. With all of the crazy things going on in my life, I thought “what better way can I express myself and document my adventures into the unknown?”…

At this moment, I have in front of me, an open history book. The book is describing the transition to the modern age - the Renaissance and Reformation of western civilization…oh the joy. I am new to the college scene and incase you haven’t already figured it out, I have a long established hatred for History. I believe that this hatred stems from my tendency to trail off in thought…always wandering away when things disinterest me. I never liked to waste my time on such petty, senseless information. Things are looking marginally rough for me right now, but I have only attended a single history class this semester and I am hoping that things work out (as they always seem to do). Maybe I will become more interested in history, as this class develops and I get a better understanding of Western Civilization…

Aside from the aforementioned history class, I also have a Math class to attend. Math has always been my favorite subject in school (with science following closely behind it). The ironic tragedy in this whole tale is the fact that I don’t seem to have the mental capacity required to calculate algebraic equations. But just because I find it difficult, it doesn’t mean I dislike it.

I guess you could say that I am kind of wasting time here, just procrastinating the agony that is to come in reading 25 pages of bore…and you might be right. However, I feel that it is less to do with slacking and more of a way to gain back my sanity. I call this time “boring book meditation for the body and soul”. May the power of the computer overthrow the evil that is this utterly boring content. ;)

Honestly though, I should seriously start reading. I will post more soon…
